JOB TITLE: Software Development Intern
LOCATION: Edinburgh, UK

PROGRAM TERM: 1st June 2023 to 31st August 2023
THE ROLE:
AMD is looking for a Software Development Intern to join our Interactive Design Tools software team, located in Edinburgh UK, for 2-3 months of the summer academic break. This is an opportunity for a skilled and self-motivated individual to develop applications to help customers assemble, configure and deliver complex systems within AMDβs industry leading Vivado Design Suite.
The successful candidate will be a key member of a close-knit team of developers based in Edinburgh, with opportunities to network with our colleagues around the globe. In this role you will be working with world-class development, build and test technologies alongside other innovative and motivated people. You will be using the latest C++ standards and will participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle. Your contributions and expertise will help shape our future software products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop and verify new software features
- Review, refactor and improve existing software
- Participate in peer code and design reviews
- Demonstrate and present your work to the team
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Primary:
- Confident in C++ (or equivalent) programming language
- Familiarity of Linux and Windows operating systems
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Tcl or Python
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Secondary:
- Interest in Hardware Design tools and methodologies
- Knowledge of Verilog and/or VHDL languages
- Exposure to FPGA or ACAP architectures and flows
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors or Masters undergraduate (year 3+) in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or comparable degree
