Deputy Head of Sound
Sonia Friedman Productions is seeking applications for a full-time, experienced Deputy Head of Sound on the London production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, this new play by Jack Thorne received its world premiere in Londonβs West End at the Palace Theatre in summer 2016. The critically acclaimed production is the most awarded West End play in the history of the Olivier Awards, winning a record-breaking nine awards including Best New Play and Best Director in 2017.
Candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to support and deputise for the Head of Sound. Candidates should be able to work calmly and efficiently under pressure as well as having strong organisational and time management qualities to ensure that the production runs efficiently and smoothly and the sound design is maintained.
Responsibilities include the preparation, rigging, maintenance and operation of the sound design. Ideal candidates would have experience in running radio mics, the operation of QLab and a knowledge Yamaha and Digico desks.
Experience working on a large-scale production is essential.
Start Date: 19th June 2023
Please Note: All applicants must be able to commit to the full contract.
Job Location: West End London
Contract Type: A year contract in the first instance, then the contract will be rolling.
Salary: Weekly rate as per SOLT/BECTU agreement.
Weekly Hours: 6 day working weeks (Tuesday to Sunday); 8 shows per week plus maintenance and understudy calls.
