Position Overview & Specifications

Our fantastic Staff Day Nursery is based in the grounds of Kingston Hospital and provides day care for children, aged 3 months to 4 years, whose parents/carers are employed by Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Our last Ofsted rating in May 2018 was 'Good'. This is in no small part owing to the passion that our team have about what they do. They care deeply about the little people in our care and we work closely with parents, keeping them updated regularly about their child's progress and the next steps in their learning, as well as helping them understand how to be involved in their child's learning and support this at home. Our aim is to provide the best care and learning environment for the children.

We provide a warm, welcoming environment, and pride ourselves on our creativity when it comes to provision of activities, that challenge children to learn and develop their skills. We have great links within our local community and make good use of the local area to help enhance learning opportunities for children.

We work effectively with outside agencies to support our children who have special educational needs (SEN) and/or disabilities and apply consistent strategies to support children, as well as promoting positive behaviour. This shows in the behaviour of the children in our care, who form strong and secure bonds with practitioners. This has a positive impact on our team, who are able to enhance their own learning, develop their confidence and self-esteem, and reap the rewards of working in a supportive and positive team.

Finally, our Nursery Manager - Lisa, is an ambassador for the childcare profession. Her passion and knowledge is second to none. She's always cheerful, positive and supportive and gives 100% to our people, as well as the children in our care and parents we provide a service for.

We're so proud of our team and our service as a not for profit organisation. We see ourselves as providing a vital service for the employees of Kingston Hospital who rely on us to take care of their little people, whilst they are working to keep the community healthy and safe.

If you're looking for work satisfaction, in an environment that is friendly and fun, with supportive leadership and you can relate to the following, please get in touch, we'd love to tell you more about working with us.

Why did the banana go to the doctors?

Because he wasn’t peeling well… if this didn’t make you chuckle this might not be the right job for you ;)

Do you possess the magic and sparkle that makes every child feel special?

Can you pretend to be a cat or a Prince at the drop of a hat, while eating a birthday cake made of mud?

Can you read a story and sing in front of a varied audience – big or small?

Can you wipe a nose, give a cuddle and clean a table whilst helping a little person put on their slippers?

Would you be happy to be seen in public wearing playdough, lunch, slime, cornflour, paint, mud or the “unknown” on your uniform?

Do you enjoy reading “The Gruffalo” with the assistance of numerous little people who quiz you about every sentence?

Would you enjoy exploring our local environment with the children, which may include getting wet and muddy?

Do you have the ability to count small, fast moving little people?

Do you have a heightened sense of smell that can seek out a smelly nappy at 20 paces and a cast iron tummy that can manage the whiff when changing it?

If this raised a smile and you can say yes to most of these questions, you might be just the person we are looking for!

We are looking for a fun and passionate qualified childcare professional, minimum level 3 in childcare and education (or equivalent), who will enjoy working within a dedicated, established team committed to providing an outstanding quality of childcare provision. We have a variety of room based opportunities working with our babies, age 6 to 18, months and our toddlers aged 18 to 26 months.

This job sounds too good to be true, but it gets even better…

* You will be working shifts between 7am & 5.30pm, covering a 37.5 hour week.

*You will get 27 days annual leave per year – this increases with service. (+ Bank Holidays)

*We provide you with t-shirts & hoodies as part of our uniform.

*You will have access to NHS discounts at various shops, restaurants & many more.

* All new members of staff are automatically enrolled into the very generousNHS pension scheme.

*We have excellent transport links with Norbiton Station at the end of the road & numerous buses stopping on the hospital site or at the end of the road.

Last but not least, you’ll be part of a high performing, supportive and dedicated team headed up by Lisa, an inspirational leader who is super passionate, engaging and has a wealth of experience to help you progress in your career in childcare
