Position Overview & Specifications

The Acute Speciality Medicine Care Group is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, bright and engaged individual to the post of Ward Administrator to join our patient focused team. You will work full-time by undertaking 13 long day shifts (8 a.m. to 8.30 p.m.) per 4-week roster period. The service covers 365 days a year so weekend and bank holiday working is a requirement. Alternatively, the role may be working a pattern of 37.5 hours weekly (8-4).

You will have an excellent understanding of, and be currently successful in, meeting the needs and demands of working with the general public whilst remaining calm under pressure. These talents will be clearly demonstrated in your application.

Previous NHS administrative and customer care experience within a hospital environment is a distinct advantage, however experience in a customer facing roles within another public sector service area may suffice. The ward activity can be fast paced so a flexible approach and an ability to multi-task is key as you may be required to assist in cross-covering more than one ward at a time.

This role is essential to ensuring our patients have a positive experience throughout their stay. Experience of using PIMS ADT (Admissions\Discharges\Transfers) and Sunrise EPR is advantageous but not essential as training is given.

You will be the first point of contact on the ward for patients, staff and visitors therefore you will wear a uniform. You will be responsible for accurately maintaining the activity data on PIMS (our patient information management system), ensuring all data is correct. You will book patient transport, order the ward stocks, send discharge notifications to GPs whilst generally assisting the Ward Manager and the team administratively.

This is a permanent role that will require you to work primarily on the Medical wards and Acute Surgical units but could involve covering our other wards from time to time. You will be the first point of contact on the unit or ward for patients, staff and visitors therefore you will be required to wear a uniform.
