Prisons have a dedicated team of staff whose job it is to keep the prison safe for everyone, called the Safer Custody Team. They have a specific responsibility for managing the risks of people harming themselves or other people, or of being harmed by others. The Safer Custody Nurse will work as part of the Safer Custody Team to promote patient safety and safeguarding across the establishment. You will be overarching across New Models of Care (NMOC)working with the multidisciplinary team to review and assess individual patient risk throughout the time in custody. This role will be key in liaising with other healthcare and prison colleagues in managing and reducing risk.About You
We are looking for a first level Registered Nurse with current registration with NMC. You will have experience of implementing local and national policies e.g. NICE guidance, developing protocols/care pathways and monitoring effectiveness. You'll have a non-judgmental and compassionate approach will enable you to succeed in this role, as well as a proactive approach to problem solving. You’ll receive an annual salary up to £48,000 per annum - depending on experience.

HMP Belmarsh is a Category A men’s prison with an operational capacity of over 910 inmates and is located in South East London. The site houses a High Security Unit (HSU) and is regarded as the most secure prison unit in the United Kingdom. HMP Belmarsh became operational in April 1991 and is adjacent to and adjoin to Woolwich Crown Court.
