Position Overview & Specifications

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading FMCG businesses as a Shift Quality Auditor Coordinator (Nights) at our Canning site in Long Sutton. We are one of the largest canned food manufacturers in UK, with 11 sites across the country and several other sites around Europe.

Principal Responsibilities (not limited to)
Reporting to the site Technical Manager, this role has responsibility for day-to-day management and co-ordination of the shift based QA (LS only), Lab tech (WS only) and raw material teams. This role will provide support, guidance and technical expertise ensuring the site remains focused on all aspects of food safety and quality assurance, role modelling and encouraging a quality culture. As a part of the QA function, this role will work with the site to ensure compliance with food safety legislation, achieve highest grade possible in all external audits, increase knowledge of food safety and quality and also improve ways of working, based on the values of Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, People.

Monday to Thursday 22:00 to 06:00
Friday 18:00 to 00:00

Dimensions

  • Responsible for delivering the completion of internal audits to the set schedule.
  • Responsible for ensuring incubations, drain weights and seam checks are completed as per procedures.
  • Administer all the hold and rework notifications for the site.
  • Responsible for the collection of and / or ordering of samples for hold investigations.
  • Responsible for live contamination incidents, ensuring correct information is gathered during the issue and the line is safe to restart.
  • Responsible for completing site microbiological testing programmes.
  • Responsible for ensuring raw material testing is completed in a timely manner to ensure raw materials are available for use in the factory as required.
  • Manage the collection and submission of samples for nutritional testing required to ensure we meeting customer COP’s.
  • Responsible for raising any necessary PO’s for the dept.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the fill weight / net weight database.
  • Responsible for any finished goods release required from rework.
  • Responsible for authorising first stage concessions and ensuring they are in place where there are deviations from standard processes in the factory.
  • Responsible for approving new labels and maintaining the label reference documents.
  • Responsible for ensuring all the QA SOP’s and task assessments are up-to-date and available.
  • Responsible for delivering any QC and QA related training required on site.
  • Management of the shift QA (LS only), lab tech (WS only) and RM Technicians, including EDR’s, Logitime, one to one’s, rotas, annualized hours. WS shift Co-ordinators to work with the operations teams to set objectives and contribute to the EDRs for the QA technicians.

Experience/Skills

  • Front Line Management Experience.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced production environment.
  • Experience with making decisions based on Food Safety, Compliance and Quality.
  • HACCP Level 3 and Food Safety Level 3 is essential
  • You must be a goals orientated individual with experience of motivating and leading a small team.
  • Strong Team working within the team and across the peer group.
  • Ability to work under pressure and think on your feet.

  • Ability to communicate openly and effectively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Technical, H&S and factory teams and across other business teams and functions.
  • Provide support and direction for teams to enable them to operate to the best of their abilities with a view to delivering projects across the site.
  • Demonstrate a high level of organisation in order to effectively and efficiently plan and organise the information and resource needed to deliver technical support across the site.
  • Strong negotiator and influencer, able to contribute effectively outside immediate area of expertise.
  • Any experience in Meat production is desirable.
