About our Team Our SciBite Team uses semantic analytics solutions to transform the way life science organisations handle text and documents. We can quickly identify and extract scientific terminology from unstructured text and transform it into valuable machine-readable data. Our tools are flexible, versatile and simple to use, ensuring we provide an exceptional experience to our user community. About the Role As a Data Scientist, you will collaborate with our customers to solve text analysis questions using SciBite technology. You will learn and shape cutting-edge informatics and drug discovery with global pharmaceutical and life science companies. You will discover new approaches and skills and will engage with some of the hottest new technologies out there today. Responsibilities
  • Applying SciBite technology to address key drug-discovery and other life science data analysis questions
  • Working with existing and new customers with our tools, developing scripts and pipelines to help customers achieve their goals
  • Collaborating within the data science team developing new text analytics and machine-learning tools to open new avenues of data mining
  • Collaborating with Elsevier colleagues to integrate and test connected solutions
Requirements
  • Have a bioinformatics, cheminformatics or information-science background or practical experience in handling public biomedical/healthcare databases, particularly life-science text-based content
  • Be familiar with major bio- and cheminformatics public databases
  • Have a good Python scripting knowledge including use of RESTful web services and data science libraries such as Pandas
  • Demonstrate willingness to take on new challenges outside of their comfort zone, applying new technologies as necessary
  • Be comfortable in representing SciBite at customer and public meetings and great interpersonal skills
