Position Overview & Specifications
- Supporting the registered nurse in the implementation of an agreed Care Plan with the service user and in accordance with instructions and training received;
- Domestic care duties to the service user, including washing and dressing, feeding and watering, mobilising, toileting, bed-making, providing comfort, monitoring conditions (e.g. taking temperatures, pulse, blood pressure, respiration, weight, blood glucose)
- Helping promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of the service user, relatives and carers;
- Contributing to a team approach to care in conjunction with all members of the multidisciplinary team;
- Contributing to the legality and accuracy of the service user's Care Plan and or other reports and the effectiveness of the established communication/reporting system 24 hours a day;
- Participating in regular meetings and attending other meetings as requested;
- Undertaking tasks and procedures in which competency has been assessed and recorded specific to the care environment, including for example blood glucose monitoring;
- Participating in research activities as and when required;
- Providing support and assistance to registered staff;
- Preventing and minimising any danger or risk to service users, visitors, coworkers, or themselves in the clinical environment;
- Assisting in the maintenance of stock levels, including pharmaceutical products;
- Assisting in the maintenance of home cleanliness and tidiness and adhere to infection control policy and procedures at all times;
- Assisting the service user to ensure they have the opportunity to meet their individual dietary requirements.
- Ensuring all service users receive their chosen and correct meals;
- Receiving and conveying information from telephone or personal enquiries in a courteous manner and ensure all persons visiting the home are greeted and assisted in a welcoming and supportive manner;
- Assisting and supporting registered nurses and clerical staff in administrative duties as required;
- Escorting stable service users to and from their homes and other care locations as required
Skills:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a healthcare role
- Caring and sensitive to the needs of others, especially vulnerable people or the sick or infirm
- Diligent and good at following instructions
