Position Overview & Specifications
We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Microbiologist to join the team of a worldwide company based at one of their sites in Middleton.
Location: Middleton
Shifts: Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5.00pm
Rate of Pay: £10.42 per hour
Employment Type: Temporary - Maternity cover
*Interviews to be held beginning of June, 2023
Role:
To support the Chemists' allowing the effective operation of the Quality management system and conformance to required standards.
- Conducting quality checks and audit updates in line with the requirements.
- Completing Testing against various samples and chemicals, working to strict deadlines.
- Ensuring the laboratory is maintained to appropriate stock levels and hygiene standards.
- Maintaining testing equipment and reagents, ensuring that all equipment is maintained to the appropriate standard.
Required Skills
- Chemistry knowledge would be beneficial but not essential.
- Computer Literate (Excel, Word & Outlook)
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting microbiological testing of finished products and relevant associated samples ensuring they comply with the required specification and GLP.
- Collecting samples and preparing media according to the demands of the day.
- Ensuring that batches which exceed the specified limits will be assessed, monitored and actioned as appropriate.
- Maintain testing equipment and reagents, ensuring that all equipment is maintained to the appropriate standard.
- Conducting data analysis and evaluation of existing process to identify areas for improvement.
- Leading by example regarding attitudes towards product quality and hygiene.
- Completing all associated administration duties such as spreadsheets, associated filing and distribution of batch status reports and answer specific e-mail queries.
- Completing Swabs and collecting water samples for testing.
