Position Overview & Specifications
SYNLAB UK & Ireland have extensive experience of working in partnership with the NHS to deliver and improve pathology services through its existing pathology joint ventures – including Southwest Pathology Services (SPS).
Are you looking for a rewarding career in a state-of-the-art laboratory, situated in the heart of Somerset, which offers customer centric medical excellence?
Our team at SPS have been fundamental to the principle of making a positive difference to healthcare within Somerset for 10 years and we have a new job opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Assistant to support the processing of clinical specimens within our Histology department at Musgrove Park Hospital.
Hours: 37.5hrs / early and late shifts on rota.
Responsibilities:
- To prepare and process clinical specimens for biomedical testing.
- To work within agreed quality standards of service delivery and turnaround times.
- To perform all designated duties in accordance with local working practices, to maintain high personal standards and conform to Health and Safety regulations.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- NVQ3, or equivalent level of knowledge – a minimum requirement of 3 GCSEs to include English, Maths and at least one Science subject.
- Good degree of accuracy & numeracy.
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of levels of staff within the laboratory and user organisations.
- Good developed interpersonal and team working abilities.
